Description
The monument to Adelina Lane in Kensal Green Cemetery is a chest tomb dating from the 19th century. It features heavy rusticated pilasters at the corners and an oversailing coped top that rises to a central moulded ridge. The ends of the tomb have plain, blocky pediments flanked by acroteria, and there is a similar transverse ridge halfway down that also ends in pediments supported by heavy stepped corbels. The base is chamfered, with a plain slab underneath. One side panel is inscribed with the words: 'Sacred / to the Memory of / Adelina Lane / beloved wife of John Lane Esqre R.N. / of Keppel Street Russell Square / died 17th September 1834 aged 53 years'. The monument is signed by J Browne of London.
