Description
No. 38 is a detached house built in 1862, featuring stucco cladding. It has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, and is three bays wide with a symmetrical design of 1:1:1. The ground floor has channelling and steps leading to a central entrance flanked by Doric half columns. Above the steps is a wrought and cast iron glazed canopy. On either side of the entrance are two-storey canted bay windows, each supported by Ionic pilasters on the upper storey. The outer windows on the second floor also have pilasters. There is a small balustraded balcony in front of the central window, and a rich cornice adorns the top of the house. While the upper part has been reconstructed, the central dormer has been retained. Additionally, there are cast iron balconies at the ground floor level. This house is part of the planned layout of Holland Park.
