Description
Number 3 is a former meeting house built around 1850. It is constructed of brick and stucco, topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys above a basement and features a five-window range. There are steps leading up to a flat-arched entrance, which has a cornice supported by consoles, located in a lower wing that is set back to the left. Above the entrance, there is a flat-arched window with a moulded stucco architrave and cornice. Between the entrance bay and the main front, there is a narrow bay with flat-arched windows on each floor, also featuring moulded stucco architraves.
The main front is framed by chamfered quoins and is divided into three bays by brick pilaster strips. The ground- and first-floor windows are flat-arched with moulded stucco architraves and cornices on consoles, and there is a sill band for the first-floor windows. The eaves cornice has paired brackets. The hipped roof has side stacks, and the two bays to the left have a stepped parapet and a side stack.
Flanking the entrance are cast iron railings adorned with palmette ornaments. Although the interior was largely gutted at the time of inspection, it still retains the original staircase with stone steps, roll-moulding on the dado and cornice. The upstairs room appears to have been used as a meeting room and retains tongue-and-groove panelling on the dado, a cornice, a screen at the east end with moulded panelling and cornice, and a coved ceiling in the three north-western bays, featuring elaborately moulded beams. The window architraves on this floor have been removed but are still present in the building.
