Description
194 and 195 Upper Street is a terraced house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed of grey/brown brick arranged in Flemish bond, with red brick dressings and a tiled roof. The building stands four storeys tall and has a four-window range. The ground floor features a late 19th or early 20th-century shop front, with glazing that was inserted around 1925. The first-floor windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads and red brick dressings on the jambs; the sashes have frames that are almost flush with the wall, although these frames have been renewed. The third window from the south is blank. There is a brick storey band present. The second-floor windows are segmental-arched, with the gauged brick heads crudely renewed, and the third window from the south is also blank. A brick string course and parapet are visible, along with two flat-arched dormers in the roof and a rear stack.
