Description
23-27 Ripplevale Grove are terraced houses built between 1839 and 1841. They are constructed from yellow stock bricks arranged in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings. The houses have a pitched roof covered with Welsh slate, featuring overhanging eaves and brick party-wall parapets and stacks. The design follows a side-hall entrance plan and includes two storeys and basements. Each house has two windows, with the end houses featuring additional outer entrance bays in recesses.
The ground floor has a stucco storey band, and steps lead up to the doorways. No. 23 has been altered, while no. 25 features fluted quarter-columns, a five-panelled door, and a plain rectangular overlight. No. 27 retains its original recessed entrance, flanked by stucco pilasters that support an entablature and blocking course, with a panelled door and rectangular overlight. The windows have gauged brick flat arches above 6/6 sash windows, except for no. 25, which has 8/8 sashes on the ground floor. The ground-floor flat-arched sashes are set in gauged-brick elliptical-arched recesses, linked by stucco impost bands, and there is a stucco cornice.
