Description
Numbers 330 to 336 (even) and attached railings comprise a row of four terraced houses built around 1840. The houses are constructed with stucco over brick, featuring hipped roofs covered in tile, slate, and artificial slate. The roofs have projecting eaves, with stuccoed party-wall stacks. The houses are two storeys high with a basement, and each has two windows. The central two houses are set back one brick’s depth. The basement is stuccoed, and the ground floor has rusticated stucco detailing. Steps lead to square-headed doorways. Number 330 retains its original panelled and glazed door, along with its original rectangular overlight with diamond pattern glazing bars; Numbers 330 and 334 also have original overlights of a similar design. The other houses have a 20th-century door and overlight. The ground-floor windows have cornices over architraved sashes with glazing bars, though the windows at Number 334 have been altered. The first floor has a sill band and lightly scored stucco walls with architraved sashes and glazing bars. A plain cornice runs along the eaves. Cast iron porch railings are attached to Numbers 334 and 336, and a garden railing is attached to Number 336. The group value (GV) of the houses lies in their cohesive architectural style and contribution to the streetscape.
