Description

Numbers 1 to 15 (odd) and the attached iron railings are a group of eight terraced houses built in the 1840s. They are constructed of stucco over buff and yellow stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. The houses have a side hall entrance with a staircase. They are three storeys high with a basement and attic, and generally have two windows each, except for number 15, which has three.

The ground floor is raised and features banded stucco detailing with round-arched openings and vermiculated keystones. Recessed sash windows with curved and radial glazing bars are protected by Rococo-style cast-iron window guards. Steps lead to the entrances on the right, most with original panelled doors and plain fanlights. Number 1 retains its original porch, and number 15 has a side entrance. A sill band sits beneath the full-length, square-headed, architraved sash windows on the first floor, which feature glazing bars and console bracketed cornices, along with bracketed balconies fitted with original iron railings. The second floor also has architraved, square-headed sash windows with glazing bars and lugs. A modillioned cornice supports the parapet. The pitched roof has some dormers, and there are party-wall chimney stacks. Attached iron railings are present at the front.
