Description

No 10 on Wood Lane is an early 19th-century small villa made of stock brick, featuring some alterations. The building has two storeys and a basement, with three windows. The central bay is topped with a low-pitched nipped slate roof that has deep eaves, and it is enhanced by a full-height stuccoed canted bay. The side sections of the villa have parapets. The left section, originally a stable, has been incorporated into the house. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with gauged flat brick arches. On the ground floor, the left tripartite window features a moulded stucco architrave and a cornice supported by console brackets. To the right, there is a wooden porch with columns that have feather capitals. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a patterned fanlight set in a round gauged brick arch. Inside, there is an original hall cornice and a graceful curved staircase. To the left, there is a single-storey garage extension. The forecourt wall, railings, and gates of No 10, along with those of No 12 and the forecourt wall of No 14, create a cohesive group.
