Description

This is an early 19th century pair of houses located on the south side of Wood Lane, Highgate. Each house is two storeys high with a basement, and features a main block with a single window and recessed entrance extensions of two storeys with a single window. The houses are constructed of stock brick, with a low-pitched slated roof, deep eaves, and parapets to the sides. The window arches are gauged brick, flat in the central block and segmental at the sides. Number 32 has a later 19th-century half-glazed door and a three-light casement window on the right-hand side. Number 34’s left wing has been pebbledashed, and a long casement window has been inserted. The other windows are sash windows with glazing bars set within stucco-lined reveals. Louvre shutters have been added to the central part of Number 34. A bronze plaque commemorates Patrick Macdowall R.A. (1799-1870), an eminent sculptor who lived there for many years. 20th-century rear extensions have been added.
