Description

This is an early 19th century pair of houses, numbered 2 and 4, along with a smaller extension, 2A, on Tottenham Green. Each of the original houses is three storeys high with a basement, and has two windows in the main part of the building; a two-storey, single-window extension is set back. The houses are built of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet and a stone band at the level of the first-floor window sills. The recessed windows have gauged, flat brick arches within stucco surrounds. Some windows are sash windows without bays, while others are 19th-century casements. There are two modern windows that have been added. The ground floor has an arcade resting on a stone-coped basement plinth. The left-hand side has a door consisting of six leaded panels, with a corniced head and a patterned rectangular fanlight, set within a mid-19th century doorcase of narrow, panelled pilasters and a corniced hood supported by paired brackets. There are five steps leading to the door. A later 19th-century two-storey, two-window extension is on the right-hand side, with a similar door inserted. Number 2A is a small, two-storey stuccoed extension, comprising a loft conversion with a trellis porch and a brick garage, and is included in the listing because it is closely connected to number 2.
