Description

A pair of terraced houses, numbered 3 and 4, built in the mid to later 18th century. Number 3 has an early 19th-century extension, which originally stood as a separate house, filling the angled space between numbers 2 and 3. The houses are constructed of brown stock brick with red brick dressings, and a plain brick band marking the first floor. Each house has three storeys, attics, and semi-basements, with three windows on the front elevation.

The central entrances of the two houses are linked by a mid-19th century stucco surround, featuring a small cornice and modified consoles, with overlights and panelled doors approached by steps. The windows have gauged red brick flat arches over recessed sash windows. A parapet runs along the roofline.

The extension to number 3 is built of multi-coloured stock brick, with a stuccoed ground floor and a first floor band. It has three storeys and one window. The central entrance has a panelled door, and a later sash window is located to the right. The upper floor has gauged brick flat arches over tripartite sash windows. It, too, features a parapet. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.

Attached cast-iron railings with spearhead finials run along the front areas of both properties, constituting subsidiary features.
