Description

No. 18 Holly Mount is a detached house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is situated on Holly Bush Steps, which provide access to the main facade and entrance. The house is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with plain brick pilasters at either end of the front elevation. These pilasters frame a modified brick cornice and parapet. The building has two storeys and a semi-basement, containing three windows. The entrance features a blind brick arch, a wooden architraved surround, an overlight, and a 20th-century glazed door, all approached by steps. The windows have slightly recessed sash windows with gauged red brick flat arches and exposed boxing. The interior remains uninspected. Historically, the building served as a beer shop in the 1830s, subsequently a laundry in the 1850s, and a lodging house at the turn of the century.
