Description
This is an early 19th-century pair of houses located on Bruce Grove in Tottenham. The main block of each house is three storeys high with a basement, and features three windows. There are later 19th-century extensions to the left and right sides, and a two-storey, one-window projection to the left. All are constructed of stock brick.
The central section of the houses has a stuccoed cornice with paired, quasi-modillion details and a blocking course, as well as a stuccoed first-floor band. The side wings have parapets, with the right-hand wing’s rising to a peak. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within stucco-lined reveals. Those in the left-hand projection have moulded architraves, and a pediment above the ground-floor window. A tripartite window is located at the centre of the right-hand section’s first floor, set within an elliptical relieving arch with a keystone rising to the parapet peak.
The properties have been combined into a single unit, and there are now two modern doors, one of which is located in the right-hand section beneath a patterned radial fanlight which may have been repositioned from the centre. An unattractive modern single-storey projection has been added to the left side of number 7. The properties are included on the list for their group value with numbers 1 to 16 on Bruce Grove.
