Description

The lamp posts outside 1 Northwood Road in Highgate are two identical late 19th-century gas lamp posts that were converted to electrical supply in the 20th century. They are located next to the public pavement on the forecourt of the property. Each lamp post has a four-sided base with chamfered shoulders and rises through a series of mouldings to a slender barley twist column. At the top of the column is a winged capital featuring a single horizontal maintenance bracket. Above this capital, four slender bracket feet support a frosted glass lantern encased in a cast iron frame. A gas vent and finial sit atop the lantern.
