Description
The lamp post outside 35 Maiden Lane is a gas street light featuring a late 19th century or early 20th century Grosvenor-type lantern mounted on a replacement fluted column, likely from the second half of the 20th century.
The lamp post is made of cast iron and has a tapering, fluted 'Eddystone' column topped with the Grosvenor lantern. There is no date inscription on the post, and it includes a small access door at the base. The lantern itself is circular, with tapered and curved glazing panels held by metal glazing bars. It is adorned with a decorative, perforated crest and an ogee finial on the top. Inside the lantern, there is a four-mantle inverted burner and an enamel reflector. The lantern is secured to the column by a three-legged frog attached to its collar.
