Description

TQ 3080 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER HENRIETTA STREET, WC2 72/66 14.1.70 Nos. 7 and 8 G.V. II Pair of terrace houses. c.1730-31 with early C.19 ground floor alterations and 1870s refacing to upper floors similar to Nos. 5 and 6. Coursed stucco ground floor, painted Portland cement facing and Italianate dressings to upper floors, slate roof. 4 storeys and basements, No. 8 with dormered mansard. Each of 3 windows wide. Doorways each end in handsome Greek Ionic doorcases of fluted columns and entablature framing 8 panel door. Recessed semicircular arched ground floor sashes with keystones. Upper floors have segmental headed Victorian sashes in plain architraves, eared on 2nd and 3rd floors and with cornices on consoles to 1st floor, heavy, consoled stone sills. Dentil and modillion crowning cornice with blocking across both fronts. Both have a number of good original internal features, in particular No. 8, with cut string twisted baluster column newel staircases, panelling etc. as well as early C.19 features.
