Description
No. 25 Clapton Square is an early 19th-century building that has undergone some alterations. It stands three storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and features two windows. The roof is a slated mansard style with dormers. The building is constructed of stock brick, with a banded stuccoed ground floor and basement that create voussoirs for a round-arched recess containing a round-headed window. This window has a key block that rises to the cill band of the first floor. There are giant angle pilasters that once supported an entablature, although the mouldings are now lost. The sash windows are set within moulded architraves and have console bracketed cornices. A prostyle Ionic porch, which has been filled in on the sides, supports an altered six-panel door that is accessed by six steps. Nos 20 to 25 Clapton Square form a group with Nos 1 to 8 Clarence Place.
