Description

This is an early 19th century pair of houses, numbers 14 and 15, located on the west side of Clapton Square. Each house is three stories high with an attic and basement, and features two windows. The exterior is constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet. The roofs are slate, with one mansard roof being hipped and incorporating dormers. The windows have gauged flat brick arches; most have glazing bars, although the ground floor windows feature round-headed arches recessed within round arches, and number 4 has ornamental cast iron railings. Number 14 has a six-panel door with a plain fanlight and wrought-iron area railings. Number 15 includes a single-story stuccoed link to the right of the main entrance, which has a cornice and blocking course, along with a modern door and doorway. The railings for numbers 7 to 19, together with number 13A, form a group valued for their contribution to the streetscape when viewed alongside number 17 Lower Clapton Road.
