Description

This is a pair of early to mid-19th century townhouses, numbered 27 to 30 Albion Square. The houses are arranged in two blocks, each three storeys high with a basement, and two windows wide. One block has a recessed entrance bay with a parapet front. The main blocks have low-pitched slate roofs with bracketed eaves. The facades are of stock brick with stucco bands on the first and second floors, and rusticated brick on the basement. The ground floor and basement windows are arranged in wide, round bows, each topped with a stucco cornice and blocking course. The sash windows have glazing bars, and the ground floor windows are tripartite with pilasters, a frieze, and cornices. The windows have moulded architraves. A run of nine steps leads to a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, all set within an entablature surround. Nos 25 to 30 form a cohesive group.
