Description
Nos 5 and 6 Albion Square is a symmetrical pair of mid-19th century houses, each featuring two storeys, an attic, and a basement. They have one window in the higher central block and one in a narrow set-back entrance bay. The buildings are topped with a low pediment-like gable above an upper entablature supported by Doric pilasters. There is a main entablature above the first floor. Constructed from stock brick, the houses have a recess on the axis and windows set in tall raised panels. The sash windows include glazing bars, with those on the second floor surrounded by plain stucco and those on the first floor framed by moulded architraves. The side bays feature paired round-headed windows with architraves and impost blocks. The ground floor and basement have canted bays. Each house has a four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, set back in quasi-classical angle porches that are accessed by six steps. Nos 1 to 12 Albion Square form a group with Nos 8 to 16 Albion Drive.
