Description
Numbers 5 and 6 are a pair of houses built in 1937-1938 by architect Ernst L Freud. They are constructed from narrow buff brick with stone copings and feature flat roofs. The buildings rise two and three storeys on a sloping site, with the centre slightly elevated. The upper (second) floor of No. 6 is set back behind a roof terrace. Each house has projecting porches supported by a single piloti, with the porch of No. 5 located on the side return. The windows are similar in pattern to those of No. 2, but are replicated in aluminium. The walls, made of identical brick, step up as the land rises sharply from Frognal, contributing significantly to the overall design. This pair forms a mirrored set with Nos. 1 and 2, creating a symmetrical composition. The interiors have not been inspected.
