Description

Numbers 17 and 18 are a pair of two houses, now offices, built between 1815 and 1822, and altered in the late 19th century. They were designed by John and George Bischoff as part of a larger development of thirteen houses along the north-east side of Queen Square in Leeds. The houses are constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof. They are three storeys high with a basement, and each house has three bays. The houses are a matched pair, with a shared entrance featuring fielded-panel doors, fluted Doric columns, an entablature and cornice. They have plate-glass sash windows, stone sills, and rubbed-brick arches. The interior was not inspected during listing. The attached railings have column standards and pierced finials to the bars.
