Description

Numbers 9 and 10 are a pair of houses, now offices, built between 1815 and 1822 on the north-east side of Queen Square in Leeds. They were designed by John and George Bischoff as part of a larger development of thirteen houses around the square. The houses are constructed of rendered brick with a low-pitched slate roof and have an attached set of iron railings. Each house is two storeys high with a basement, and has two bays.

Number 9 has a lined render, a six-panel door with a fanlight containing radial glazing bars, a panelled architrave and cornice above the door, and four-pane sash windows in flush moulded frames, each with a wedge lintel and stone sill. A stack straddles the ridge towards the right side of the roof. Number 10 is similar in appearance, but features a four-panel door and replacement sash windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.

The attached iron railings have urn finials to the standards and spearhead finials to the bars.
