Description

Two houses, now occupied by the National Children’s Homes and the Theosophical Society, were built between 1815 and 1822 by John and George Bischoff as part of a larger development completing the north-east side of Queen Square. The houses are rendered brick with a slate roof, and each is two storeys high with two bays. Number 11 has stone steps leading to a six-panel door with a fanlight featuring radial glazing bars, imposts, and a keyblock. It has 20th-century sash windows with glazing bars, stone sills, and wedge lintels. A chimney stack runs along the ridge of the roof. Number 12 features a panelled door with an overlight and a fanlight with beading around the radial glazing bars. The ground floor has a 20th-century stained-glass window flanked by small round windows, and 20th-century sash windows with glazing bars above. A 20th-century dormer window is visible in the roof. The interior has not been inspected.
