Description

Manor Lodge is a detached house dating to circa 1813, built for the bailiff of the Lord of the Manor. A northern extension was added later. The house is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick with a tiled hipped roof. It has two storeys and a basement, and originally featured three windows, with a later one-window extension. The main entrance is on the west-facing garden front, featuring a round-arched recessed doorway with a fanlight and French windows. Gauged brick flat arches frame the recessed sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. The house was the home of Dame Peggy Ashcroft, actress, from 1945 to 1988.
