Description

Two pairs of semi-detached villas were built in the early 19th century. The houses are stucco-faced with slated, hipped roofs and central brick chimney stacks. They have two storeys and semi-basements. Each house has one window to the front, and a recessed entrance bay on either side. Pilasters rise from the ground floor at the angles of the houses and centrally, supporting an entablature with an egg-and-dart ovolo cornice at eaves level. The doorways are square-headed, with fanlights over panelled doors; numbers 57 and 59 feature floating console bracketed cornices, while numbers 61 and 63 have rosette-decorated architraves and console bracketed cornices. The windows are recessed sashes, with the ground floor windows architraved and having console bracketed cornices. Numbers 57, 61, and 63 have cast-iron balconies. The interiors were not inspected. Number 63 has attached cast-iron garden railings set on a stone-capped sleeper wall, with a stone-capped pillar and a cast-iron gate.
