Description

Numbers 29-32 are a group of four terraced houses located on Bedford Row in Camden. Nos. 29 and 30 date from the mid-18th century and have been altered. They are constructed of yellow stock brick and rise four storeys with basements, featuring three and four windows. The doorways are architraved with pilasters that support an entablature, and each has a fanlight and a panelled door. The recessed sash windows, which have original glazing bars, are topped with gauged flat brick arches. There is a stucco band and a continuous balcony at the first floor, along with a shaped bracketed cornice at the third floor and a parapet. The interiors have not been inspected. The houses are complemented by attached cast-iron railings with torch flambe finials in front of the areas.

Nos. 31 and 32 also date from the mid-18th century but were altered in the early 19th century. They are similarly built of yellow stock brick, with a rusticated stucco ground floor that has been painted. These houses also feature a stucco cornice and blocking course, and they rise four storeys with basements, each having three windows. No. 32 includes a three-window return (some blind) to Princeton Street. The doorways are square-headed and architraved, with fanlights and panelled doors. A continuous cast-iron balcony is present at the first floor level, and the recessed, architraved sash windows have console bracketed cornices and pediments at the first floor. The interior of No. 32 shows evidence of mid-18th century decoration. Like the others, these houses have attached cast-iron railings, but with foliated finials in front of the areas.
