Description

A pair of semi-detached houses located on Oakhill Avenue, built in 1909 and designed by CHB Quennell, with construction by WJ King. The houses are built of red brick with rusticated brick quoins, and have tiled double-gabled roofs with upswept outer eaves to the front facade, hipped roofs to the rear, and tall brick chimney stacks. They are symmetrically designed, with two windows each. The entrances are located in the outer bays, each with a gabled, tiled, timber-framed hood supported on large shaped brackets; number 21 has additional 20th-century glazing to form an enclosed porch. The upper windows are 3-light flush framed, segmental-arched transom and mullion windows with small leaded panes. Central bays feature 5-light canted bowed bays of transom and mullion windows extending through both the ground and first floors. The gables are tile-hung with brick modillion eaves and each includes a 4-light casement window. The interiors were not inspected.
