Description
The pair of semi-detached houses at 33 and 35 Ferncroft Avenue were built in 1902 to designs by CHB Quennell, with construction by GW Hart. They are built of red brick with tiled gabled and hipped roofs featuring tile-hung gabled dormers and overhanging eaves supported by brackets. The pair is symmetrically designed with three windows each. Projecting gabled outer bays are complemented by further projecting bays forming bay windows across the ground and first floors, featuring tripartite sashes and narrower sashes in the cheeks. Gables have acroteria. Slightly projecting entrance bays are situated on the angle of the outer and central bays, incorporating round-arched porches with sash windows above. The central bays at ground floor continue the line of the entrance bays, featuring tripartite sashes under penthouse roofs, with a stone-coped parapet running along the line of the party wall. The first floor has corresponding tripartite sashes, and the party wall roof parapet extends onto the wall as a stepped corbel. The interiors were not inspected.
