Description
A pair of semi-detached houses built in 1905 by CHB Quennell, constructed by GW Hart. The houses are of red brick, with No.47 having a grey tiled roof and dormer, and No.49 a red tiled roof. They feature hipped and gabled roofs with overhanging eaves having painted wooden soffits, a central chimney stack, and a tall brick side stack to No.49. The design is symmetrical. Each house has two storeys, and No.47 includes an attic. Each house has three windows. All windows are of the transom and mullion type with glazing bars. The outer projecting gabled bays have seven-light bowed bays to the ground floors and four-light windows under segmental relieving arches to the first floors; a continuous brick sill band runs along the first floor. The eaves return around the gable, creating the appearance of a broken pediment with brick modillions. Slightly projecting entrance bays are situated at the angles of the outer and central bays, featuring deep wooden entablatures, part-glazed panelled doors with sidelights, and small two-light windows above. Ground floor windows have three lights with gauged brick flat arches, while first-floor windows are similar but without arches. The interiors have not been inspected.
