Description

Sidney House is a semi-detached house dating from the late 18th century, with significant alterations and a refacing in the early 19th century. It is constructed of yellow stock brick and stands four storeys high, with a semi-basement. The house has two windows, plus a single-window entrance bay on its south-west side. A round-arched doorway features a patterned fanlight and inset lamp, leading to a panelled door approached by steps with wrought-iron railings. The recessed sash windows are set within gauged brick flat arches; the first-floor windows are casements and have a continuous cast-iron balcony supported by large brackets. A parapet tops the building. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Sidney House was accompanied by service wing extensions, with the north-eastern wing now incorporated into No. 9, Cossey Cottage, while the south-west wing was demolished during the early 19th-century remodelling.
