Description

Rosslyn House is a detached house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and has a slated, pitched roof with projecting eaves and tall, flat-topped end stacks. The house has three storeys and three windows on the front elevation. A single-storey entrance extension is located on the left-hand return. The doorway within this extension dates from the mid-19th century and features a round arch with pilaster-jambs supporting a cornice head and a fanlight, above a panelled door. A continuous cast-iron balcony is positioned at first-floor level, with a 20th-century verandah placed below. Three shallow, elliptical-arched recesses rise from the first floor, with casements at first floor level and hornless sash windows on the second. The interior has not been inspected. Rosslyn House is the sole surviving building from an early 19th-century row of houses that originally extended to Downshire Hill.
