Description
Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel is a chapel dating from 1862, designed by John Johnson, with additions of a north aisle, chancel, and committee room in 1885 by Thomas Worthington. The chapel is built of Kentish ragstone rubble with Portland stone dressings, and has a steeply pitched slate roof topped with a fleche. It is constructed in the Gothic style, with a wide-aisled nave of seven bays and a sanctuary.
The interior features a vaulted timber roof and a gallery at the west end. There are two plaster relief panels in the chancel, thought to be the work of John Flaxman. The chapel contains a significant collection of 19th-century stained glass with geometrical tracery, created by Morris and Co and other firms including Burne Jones, Henry Holiday, Clayton & Bell, Wilson & Hammond, Lavers & Westlake, and Mayer & Co of Munich. A number of memorials are present, including one dedicated to the artist Helen Allingham.
