Description

This is a terrace of seventeen houses, numbered 53 to 85, with attached area railings, built in the 1840s in Camden. The houses are constructed of stock brick with rendered ground floors, basements, and parapets. They have slate roofs and party wall stacks. Number 89 is three bays wide, whilst the others are two windows wide with doors to the left. The houses are three storeys high with basements. The ground floors of numbers 57 to 67 feature channelled decoration with a protruding band above the ground floor. All windows have 12-light glazing bars within moulded architrave surrounds; the first-floor windows have cast-iron balcony fronts, and the second-floor windows also have balconies to number 55. The panelled front doors are framed by moulded architrave surrounds with rectangular top lights, with decorative top lights at numbers 53, 55, 63, 65, and 67, and fanlights at numbers 57 and 61. Porches supported on cornice brackets are present at numbers 63, 65, 67 to 89. Numbers 81 to 85 have round-headed doorcases and toplights, with round-arched ground-floor windows. Numbers 69 to 75 have higher parapets with tie-plates. The interiors have not been inspected. All houses have cast-iron area railings, except for number 75. Number 75 has been refronted in a style to match the original terrace but is included in the listing for group value.
