Description

Number 38 is a mid-19th century end-of-terrace house with an entrance on its return to Albert Street. It is constructed of composition stone blocks, with intermittent patterned blocks at the floor levels, and has stucco dressings and a cornice. The house has four storeys and a basement, and features a two-window facade with a three-window (two blind) return. The ground-floor openings have three-centred arches with architraves and keystones, housing a panelled entrance door with a decorative overlight and flanked by pilasters. The windows are mostly 4-pane sashes, with the second and third floors featuring square-headed architraves. The first floor has full-length casements with architraves incorporating rosette-enriched friezes and console-bracketed cornices, along with cast-iron window guards. The interior remains uninspected. Attached cast-iron railings are present to the areas. The building is notable for its use of artificial stone blocks.
