Description

This is an 18th-century milestone located in the forecourt of No. 18 Voel House on South Grove in Camden. The milestone is made of Portland stone and is inscribed with "IV miles from Saint Giles Pound." Originally, it was inscribed as "V miles from Saint Giles Pound." A resident of Pond Square was annoyed by this inaccuracy and requested St Pancras Council to correct it; when they did not, he added the "I" himself.
