Description

Numbers 2-9 Wren Street is a terrace of eight houses built around 1824-30. The houses are constructed of darkened yellow stock brick, with later brick patching visible. Numbers 2-5 have slated mansard roofs with dormers, while the others do not. There are three storeys, attics to numbers 2-5, and basements. Each house has two windows. The ground floor features round-arched openings. The doorways have fluted quarter columns supporting cornice heads, together with radial fanlights and panelled doors. Number 4 has a particularly elaborate doorway with a stucco surround, voussoir blocks, a reeded surround, lion-head stops, a radial fanlight, and a panelled door. Gauged brick flat arches feature above the recessed sash windows; the first floor has cast-iron balconies. The parapets to numbers 7-9 have a stone cornice and blocking course. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials mark the areas.
