Description
Number 240 is an end-of-terrace house with a later shop, built around 1821-1826. It is constructed of yellow stock brick, which has been largely refaced. The building has four storeys and a basement, featuring three windows and a two-window return that contributes to the symmetrical frontage of Nos 1-21 Calthorpe Street. The central entrance has a round-arched doorway with a radial fanlight and a panelled door. To the left, there is a later 19th-century shopfront that has been altered. On the right side, there is a round-arched, recessed sash window with pointed lights. A stucco sill band is present on the first floor, and the upper floor sashes are recessed with concrete lintels. The building is topped with a parapet. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings with urn finials leading to the area on the return.
