Description
No. 49 Gough Street is a former house and shop that dates back to the early 19th century. The building is constructed of yellow stock brick and features a stucco band at the first floor level. The original wooden shopfront, which has been altered, includes fluted quarter columns on either side that support an entablature with a dentil architrave and a projecting cornice. The first floor has three broad sash windows that are set beneath gauged brick heads, and there is a rebuilt parapet above. A rear extension was built in 1989-90 and is not considered of special interest. The shopfront at No. 49 Gough Street is noted for being exceptionally fine for its period. The interior has not been inspected.
