Description
No. 2 Shorts Gardens is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco dressed brick and features rusticated quoins. The building is located on the corner of Seven Dials and has one window on the main facade, with three window returns to Shorts Gardens and Earlham Street, some of which are blank. The ground floor shop is adorned with broad pilasters, some of which are tiled, supporting an entablature with a dentil cornice. The main entrance is topped with a pediment. The shop windows and doorways have been altered, but there are recessed sash windows, most of which retain their original glazing bars. The first-floor window has a segmental pediment treatment, and the first-floor windows on the returns alternate between pediments and floral scrolls. The building is finished with a cornice and blocking course. The interior has not been inspected.
