TL64NE HANCHET END 816-1/2/33 (South side) 07/11/96 Hanchet End Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Late C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Timber-framed, plastered and colourwashed: plain tile and slate roofs with brick stacks, one external against east gable end. All elevations are panelled with pilaster strips. L-shaped plan comprising two distinct blocks. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Main elevation to street (north) entered through 6-panelled door within panelled doorcase under hood. One 8/8 unhorned sash either side, and 2 similar sashes above. Cross wing to west lit through 2 single-light C20 ground-floor casements and a 2-light C20 casement to first floor. North gable retains a 5-light diamond-mullioned window to ground floor. Rear elevation is a 3-window range: sashes to both floors, that to ground-floor left replaced with a C19 canted bay window. West elevation of cross wing with central door and mixed fenestration, mostly C20 casements, but there are two 3-part C19 sliding casements, one to each floor. INTERIOR: not inspected.
