Description
Turnpike House is a notable 16th-century timber-framed house located in Withersfield. The front features exposed timber-framing and a jettied upper storey, while a crosswing is positioned at the north-west end. The rear has plastered gabled wings, and a long wing with a slate roof extends to the south-west from the north-west end. The house has two storeys, with 20th-century casement windows. The door, also from the 20th century, is designed in a "Tudor" style, featuring fillets and a moulded lintel. The roof is tiled. Inside, the house boasts moulded beams, attractive doors, and panelling with vertical board oak panels and moulded styles.
