Description
Pond End Corner is a house dating from the late 16th century, with an altered older rear range. It has two storeys and an L-shaped form. The building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring traces of comb-pargetting in panels, and is covered with black glazed pantiles. The west facade has 2-light small-paned casement windows, while the south side has 20th-century replacement casements. The main range, which faces Pond End Lane, has a two-cell internal chimney plan and an added lean-to extension at the north end. To the south of the stack, there is a two-bay room with good studding, double roll-mouldings on the main ceiling beam, and a single roll-moulding on the joists. This room also has a blocked 5-light mullioned window on the front wall, and another in the room above, which features an open truss with arched braces, although one brace has been removed. To the north of the stack, the timbering is plain. The rear range has been raised, with the older wallplate level being below the current upper windows.
