Description
Weavers is a 16th-century house that features one-and-a-half storeys and a three-cell plan, now with a lobby entrance. There is a lean-to extension at the north end. The house is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof. On the east side, there are four irregularly spaced fleur-de-lys in plaster relief. Inside, there is an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft. The windows are randomly placed and include various 20th-century casement windows, along with two gabled dormers, the larger of which is at the north end and has an additional section of framing above the wallplate. A 20th-century rustic porch leads to a plank door. The frame is partly exposed inside, showcasing full-height studs and reversed braces in the middle section. One ceiling on the ground storey has exposed unchamfered joists and a large main beam. The bay to the north of the stack is slightly narrower than the rest of the frame, featuring two apparently open trusses with cambered tie-beams and arched braces that may be medieval. It is possible that the house originally extended for another bay to the south. To the north of the stack, there is a late queen-post roof with the purlins set in the plane of the roof.
