Description
Old Chimneys is a house dating from the early 17th century and later. It has two storeys and an L-shaped form, following a basic two-cell end-chimney plan for the main range. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a plain tiled roof that features a wide eaves overhang.
At the junction of the front and rear ranges, there is a large internal chimney stack with four ornate shafts made of moulded white brick from the early 19th century, each with a different design. At the north end of the main range, there is a single round chimney shaft, also of moulded white brick, dating to the early 19th century.
The main range has three-light ovolo-moulded mullion-and-transom windows on both storeys, along with a similar two-light window situated above the central doorway. The entrance features a plank door and an enclosed 20th-century gabled porch with a half-glazed door. The rear wing has three-light ovolo-moulded mullion-and-transom windows on the ground storey, while the upper storey has windows of a similar form but with 18th-century mouldings, complete with pintle hinges.
