Description
Village Farm Cottages is a house that has been divided into two cottages, dating from the late 16th century. It is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has a two-cell end-chimney plan. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with the north-east gable end faced in Tudor red bricks. The roof is thatched and hipped at the south-west end. There are two chimney stacks: one at the north-east end and another added in the 19th century at the rear, both featuring plain white brick shafts. The windows are small-paned casement style, and there are two eyebrow dormers along with plank doors. At the south-west end, there is a single-storey lean-to addition, as well as another lean-to along the rear wall. Inside, the framing is plain but of good quality, with reversed braces at the corners, a ground storey fireplace with a timber lintel, a ceiling featuring plain joists set flat, and a chamfered main beam, along with a side purlin roof.
