Description
Number 1 Garden Cottage and Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse and adjoining cottage dating from the early 17th century. It is a single storey building with attics, constructed from timber framing and roughcast, topped with a black glazed pantiled roof. The exposed timbers on the front indicate that the southern end bay is an early 18th-century addition. The building features three-light mullion-and-transom windows with square leaded panes, along with five irregularly spaced dormers that have leaded casements. At the rear, there is an early 19th-century two-storey wing made of random knapped flint, with white brick quoins and dressings, and a slate roof. Each storey of this wing has small-paned sash windows set in shallow reveals. A rustic timber porch adds to the character of the property.
