Description

No. 2 Park Gates is a lodge located in Ampton Park, dating from the mid-19th century. The building stands two storeys tall, with a single-storey rear wing of the same period, and has an irregular shape. It is constructed from black knapped flint, featuring a white brick string course, quoins, and dressings, topped with a plaintiles roof. There is one internal chimney stack and another on the east gable, both having two square shafts set diamond-wise. The ground floor includes one cross window and a canted bay with a tented plaintiles roof, while the upper storey has two cross windows with gablets above. A lean-to porch roof extends along the west side, covering a cross window and a plank door.
