Description
Nos. 8 and 9 on The Street are a row of three estate cottages, now functioning as two, dating from the mid-19th century. The cottages are two storeys high and primarily constructed of random flint, featuring red brick quoins and dressings. The southernmost cottage, which is now part of No. 8, has a timber-framed and rendered extension. The roof is hipped and covered with 20th-century double Roman tiles, and there are two internal chimney stacks.
The cottages have three-light casement windows with a single bar to the lights and arched heads set in brick surrounds, which are also used for the doors. There are two small single-light stair windows. The southern end includes a two-light window with a door next to it, as well as a three-light window on the upper storey. At the rear, there is a parallel two-storey range made of red brick with a two-span roof. This building is included for its group value.
