Description

No 81 Chapel Road is a former public house, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building is two storeys tall with attics and has three windows. It is constructed of painted red brick and features a parapet gable at the left-hand end. The roof is a plaintiled gambrel style, with small-pane casement dormers that have segmental heads and gable chimneys made of red brick. The windows are sash type, with flat arches made of gauged brick and small-pane sashes. The entrance door has six panels, with the upper panels being glazed, and is sheltered by a flat canopy supported by carved brackets. The later 19th-century additions on either side of the building are not considered to be of special interest.
